A steampunk factory, just like the others ^^

Done in Blender 3D (Internal Render) / GIMP.

I like it, but I think replacing the grass with some near life less dirt would really help push the theme better. Also, grunge maps.

Good idea! I want to re-render this scene in an unbiased render (Cycles, LuxRender, ... ) to get more quality in shaders :)

Well, if you do, make sure to rotate some objects where you can clearly see the seems. Like I said before, lots of grunge. I love grunge.

Me personally? Meh, I don't want to bother with Cycles yet. It seems very unfinished. I love texture maps, and it just isn't there. I made a spider hoping to do a final render in cycles, only to discover unfortunately that it appears to not render particles and doesn't have support for multiple UV Maps. Hell, I still can't figure out how to use textures with it, and I'm not a fan of procedural stuff.

Yes, Cycles is very unfinished, but it has many things that old internal render hasn't: Global Ilumination, GPU support, really nice shaders (like velvet!).

Using textures is complex today, you need use the Node Editor. I used bitmap textures in this image: [link]
